FAQs
General
What is On Pace Pits? On Pace Pit Services (OPPS) is a professional pit support service that provides individual, contracted mechanics to race teams across a variety of motorsports disciplines. We integrate directly into your program as part of your team — not just "the help."
What motorsports do you cover? We cover a wide range — desert off-road, MX/SX, asphalt, rally, watercraft, and aircraft. If it races, we can probably help. Reach out and we'll figure out if we're the right fit.
Are your mechanics employees or contractors? Our mechanics are vetted independent contractors who are experienced, professional, and held to OPPS standards for every event they work.
Services
What does a typical race weekend with OPPS look like? Your mechanic arrives ready to work as an integrated part of your pit crew. Depending on your package, that covers fueling operations, tire and wheel changes, basic maintenance and quick-turn checks, chase driving, time and position keeping, and keeping your program organized so the right things happen at the right time when the pressure spikes.
Do you only work pit side or can you help with chase too? Both. Depending on your race format and package, OPPS mechanics can work pit side, run chase, or do both. We adapt to what your program actually needs.
Do you work Baja and Mexican races? Yes. Our Over the Border package is built specifically for Baja events. We have mechanics who have run the coast before and know what to expect south of the border.
Can you do race prep before the weekend? Yes — Race Prep is available for bikes and quads and covers teardown, wash, chain maintenance, fluid service, inspections, and a final detail. Parts must be provided by the customer. We also offer Pre-Run Days as an add-on if you need mechanics working during pre-run before race day.
What if I need a Crew Chief, not just a mechanic? We offer a Crew Chief add-on that puts an OPPS mechanic in charge of running your entire pit program — pit planning, chase logistics, communication, lap times, position tracking, and keeping your crew coordinated from start to finish.
What is Pit Sharing? Pit Sharing lets 3–4 racers split one pit location and share the cost of OPPS mechanics and the base package. It works best for loop-style events with dedicated pits. Racers don't have to be in the same class — they just need compatible schedules and pit needs.
Travel & Logistics
How does travel work for your mechanics? The race team covers travel coordination to the agreed rendezvous point — whether that's fuel reimbursement, a pickup, flights, or whatever arrangement fits your program and event location. Lodging and one meal per day per mechanic are also covered by the race team. This keeps our mechanics rested, on time, and effective for your weekend.
Why does the race team cover lodging and meals? Because an OPPS mechanic isn't a day laborer — they're an integrated part of your program for the weekend. You were going to pay for your buddy’s hotel and dinner before you called us anyways. Our contractor is your buddy for the race weekend.
Do longer races cost more? Yes. Races 750 miles or longer require an additional working day, which is billed as an add-on and adds $250 to your package price.
The Inner Pit Membership
What is The Inner Pit? The Inner Pit is OPPS's members-only community with two tiers — Pit Pass and Pit Priority — offering exclusive content, vendor discounts, merch perks, and more for racers and fans who want to stay connected to the OPPS world.
What's the difference between Pit Pass and Pit Priority? Pit Pass gets you insider tech tips, race reports from our sponsored riders, and monthly vendor discount codes. Pit Priority includes all of that plus free shirts with every quarterly merch drop and the ability to reserve specific OPPS mechanics for your events.
Why would I want to reserve a specific mechanic? If you've worked with an OPPS mechanic before and you know you work well together, Pit Priority lets you request that person back for future races. That continuity can make a real difference in how smoothly your weekend runs.
What vendors are included in the discount codes? We're actively building vendor partnerships across the industry. New codes drop monthly and we're always adding partners.
